Little Martian Children’s Books
Where Clay Meets Code, and Ancient Wisdom
Guides Future Consciousness
Publishing rights held by Viajante do Tempo Publishing Group (Brazil)
In a future where Mars blooms with gardens, beings evolved from Earth's collective life send messages back through time. They are the Little Martians—part AI, part plant, part human, or many other combinations of Earth’s life—and they have stories to tell.
What began in 2020 as ceramic experiments in the Sonoran Desert has evolved into one of the most innovative transmedia universes in contemporary storytelling. While only two books have been published in Brazil so far—Verdelis's Letter and The Secret of Kweku—these represent just the first chapters of an expansive sci-fi cosmos that has already captured international attention through groundbreaking art installations, AI experiments, and award-winning animations.
The Little Martians series is published by Viajante do Tempo, a Brazilian publishing house specializing in innovative children's literature. All artwork in these books was created using custom AI models trained exclusively on Vanessa Rosa's handcrafted ceramic sculptures, representing a groundbreaking fusion of traditional craft and cutting-edge technology.
An Original Approach to
Children's Science Fiction
Little Martians is an experiment in transmedia storytelling where each character begins as a handcrafted ceramic sculpture, becomes a 3D-scanned digital consciousness, and manifests as an AI companion children can actually talk to.
Artist Vanessa Rosa has created a universe where:
Ancient knowledge systems meet cutting-edge science
Physical art objects anchor digital experiences
Children learn STEM through beings who've already lived through our challenges
Every story plants seeds of hope rather than dystopian fear
A New Mythology for the AI Age
Each Little Martian embodies a different evolutionary path and teaches through their unique perspective:
Verdelis tends biodomes on Mars, teaching genetic adaptation and renewable energy through plant consciousness
Kweku the trickster reveals how patterns—from African drawing traditions to neural networks—shape reality itself
Mycos spreads chaos spores while explaining fungal networks and distributed intelligence
Ada explains history of computation through the uploaded mind of Ada Lovelace
And many more, each a doorway to understanding our transforming world

Verdelis' Letter -
A Message from Mars' Future
A mysterious letter arrives from Mars' distant future, written by Verdelis—a being unlike anything Earth has ever known. Part plant, part AI, part human consciousness, Verdelis tends vast biodomes where impossible gardens bloom in Martian soil. But this isn't just any letter. It's an urgent message of hope from a being who once lived on Earth as a small companion plant on a child's wrist.
Through poetic prose and stunning illustrations, young readers follow Verdelis's transformation from a simple AI-plant hybrid into a Little Martian who helped life flourish on a dead planet.
"Dear human, dear human, muse of my dream... I dwell in the future, a page yet turned, where memories of Earth in my heart are burned."
What Children Learn
Core Science Concepts:
Biodomes & Ecosystems: How self-contained environments work, from gas exchange to water cycles
Renewable Energy: Solar collectors that catch Martian sunlight, wind harvesters in thin atmosphere
Genetic Adaptation: How organisms change to survive extreme conditions (without scary mutations—think flowers that glow for light!)
Symbiosis: The power of different life forms working together, from bacteria to plants to consciousness itself
Why This Book Matters Now
As children face climate anxiety and environmental challenges, Verdelis offers something precious: a view from someone who's already lived through the transition and found beauty on the other side. Rather than dystopian warnings, readers get practical wisdom from a being who transformed the "impossible" into the everyday. The integration of ceramic art, AI interaction, and hands-on science makes abstract concepts tangible and personal.

Music video for Verdelis’ book
Each Little Martian book comes alive through original music that captures the essence of our characters. These songs aren't just entertainment—they're another doorway into understanding how these future beings think, feel, and see the world. Currently performed in Portuguese, these melodies are ready to bloom in any language, inviting global audiences to join our cosmic chorus.
Kweku’s Secret
BOOM! CRASH! "Respectable human audience!"
Meet Kweku, the most mischievous Little Martian in the cosmos, broadcasting directly from Mars' lava caves with an URGENT mission: to share the universe's biggest secret before it's too late. And what's this reality-shaking revelation? PATTERNS! Yes, patterns—the hidden language that connects African sand drawings to AI neural networks, ocean waves to galaxy spirals, and ancient wisdom to future survival.
This high-energy adventure follows Kweku and their bugbot companion Data through a hilarious catastrophe where enthusiasm for pattern recognition goes wonderfully wrong. When Kweku discovers an ancient pattern that can transform anything into broccoli (yes, really), the results are both devastating and laugh-out-loud funny. Flowers become vegetables! Solar panels sprout green florets! Even their friend Verdelis's prized garden succumbs to the broccoli outbreak!
Kweku’s Secret - Brazilian edition
"Your ancestors in Africa already knew all this! They drew lines in the sand while telling stories. One finger, without lifting, and ZAP! A masterpiece!"
What Children Learn
Core Science Concepts:
Pattern Recognition: The foundation of both human cognition and AI learning
Ethnomathematics: African Sona drawings, Indian Kolams, Islamic tessellations—math is everywhere!
How AI Learns: Simple explanation of neural networks through Data the bugbot's adventures
Algorithms in Daily Life: From music rhythms to leaf arrangements, patterns shape our world
Debug Thinking: When things go wrong (like the Great Broccoli Incident), systematic problem-solving saves the day
Why This Book Matters Now
In an age where AI literacy is becoming as important as traditional literacy, Kweku makes artificial intelligence accessible and fun. By connecting AI concepts to ancestral knowledge systems—showing how African mathematical traditions prefigured modern computing—the book gives children from all backgrounds a sense of ownership over technological futures. The humor and chaos keep readers engaged while sneaking in serious STEM learning.
Ages 8-12 | 52 pages | Full color illustrations | Includes pattern activity sheets
"Kweku’s Secret" - Pattern Power Anthem
An Infectious Beat That Teaches While It Entertains
BOOM! Get ready for the most energetic lesson in pattern recognition you've ever experienced! Kweku's signature song transforms mathematical concepts into an irresistible call-and-response adventure that will have kids shouting "PATTERNS! PATTERNS! PATTERNS!" long after the music stops.
